At Temple Shalom we belong to a community that accepts us as we are and supports us on our life’s journey. The strength of our Temple Shalom family can be felt in all of our services, programs, and activities, and is built upon the diversity of our members. Please come and experience a Shabbat with us, drop-in to one our religious school classes, or attend one of our many events. If Judaism and Jewish community matter to you, you will find something significant here. You will find new insights and relationships – connections to others who share your interests. You will find yourself at home.
Who We Are
Temple Shalom is a Reform Jewish community of 400 families who celebrate the diversity of modern Judaism in the Washington DC area by welcoming members as part of one congregational family, accepting us as we are, and encouraging our personal growth through programs and activities. Temple Shalom places Torah at the center, where serious learning is for everyone, where prayer and music is meaningful, participatory, and powerful, and where people feel a strong sense of belonging.
The Temple Shalom community has a wonderful array of people working together to lead our community:
Our Vision
Temple Shalom is a community that offers openness to all, where each person can connect, where comfort and caring matter. It is a place of beauty, of spirituality and learning, of creative possibility, a place filled with God's spirit and human kindness.
Come and join us. We invite you to enter the stream of Jewish experiences where new understanding and insights await you. Temple Shalom is a place with Torah at the center, where serious learning is for everyone, where prayer and music is meaningful, participatory, and powerful, where people reach out to one another during times of celebration and sadness.
If Judaism matters to you, you will find something significant here. You will find relationships ‒ connections to others who share your interests. You will find a commitment to excellence. You will open the gates to Jewish life.
