A chavurah or havurah (חבורה Hebrew: "fellowship", plural chavurot) is a small group of like-minded Jews who assemble for the purposes of facilitating Shabbat and holiday services, sharing communal experiences such as lifecycle events, Jewish learning, or simply fostering fellowship and community.

This program helps bring together people who have similar interests (e.g. wine tasting, tennis, politics) or similar in location (e.g. Silver Spring, Takoma Park) or those who wish to start something new. It’s a way to continue the connections once you leave the Temple Shalom building.

Contact Karen at or our clergy to learn about Chavurot and help expand our connections beyond our Temple walls.
