One does not keep children from school even to build the Temple. ~~ Talmud, Tractate Shabbat

Rabbi Rachel's Message

I hope you all had a meaningful Yom Kippur. Sukkot begins tonight and we hope that you will join us for services at 6:30 pm followed by a 7 pm BYO dinner in the sukkah.

OUR FIRST WEDNESDAY UNI-SESSION is Today!

October 4 5:00 PM-7:30 PM Wednesday Hebrew School (5:00 -6:30) UNISESSION including Erev Sukkot Services (6:30) AND DINNER (7:00). We will  be providing pizza for all Hebrew school students. (Our next Wednesday uni-session is next week from 5-8 pm for Simchat Torah, during which we will unravel the entire Torah scroll!)

This Friday October 6 is our First Friday Shabbat with 5:30pm Tot Shabbat followed by a 6:15pm Congregational Potluck and a 7:30pm Erev Shabbat Family Service Led by 10th Grade. The entire congregation is encouraged to join us for these first Friday Shabbat experiences!
The deadline to register for our congregational potluck is TODAY, Wednesday, October 4, so please try to register ASAP!

We encourage you all to join us and to invite friends and family. This is an event that welcomes people outside of the Temple Shalom community.

If you haven't signed up for Adult Hebrew yet, please consider doing so! Our Introductory and Intermediate classes will be held on Sundays mornings during school. See below for more information.

Also, for rising 2nd-5th graders, we hope you'll consider Taste of Camp Harlam from October 21-22. See below for more information.

OUR FIRST KEHILLAT SHALOM ADULT LEARNING OF THE YEAR WILL BE HELD DURING RELIGIOUS SCHOOL ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 15.

We encourage all parents/guardians to attend. A separate email with more information will go out in the next several days, but please join us for a series of learning opportunities for learners of all ages about what Judaism says about birth, baby namings, brit milah (ritual circumcision), and how to pick yours or your child's Hebrew name if you have not done so already.

One of our congregants, Laura Gehl, is looking to organize a Red Cross blood drive at Temple Shalom (tentatively for January 7). We need at least 50 volunteers to hold the drive. If you would be willing to donate, please email Laura at laurameressa@gmail.com your name and phone number to let her know you are interested.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please don't hesitate reaching out.

Chag Sameach (Happy Sukkot!),

Rabbi Rachel
