Sunday Pre-K

This past Sunday was a busy first full day of Sunday school! We started off in Kehillah (community) time in the Sanctuary before going downstairs for morning circle where we shared our Rosh Hashanah experiences. We created a classroom set of rules (Be Polite, Be Kind, Be Safe, and Listen when others are talking) which then the children got to decorate our rules poster. We then learned about Sukkot which is next week and we talked about the Sukkah, the fact that it has 3 walls and we have to be able to see 3 stars through the roof, and what we do in a Sukkah (eat, sleep, play, decorate). We then built our own Sukkahs using paper and straws and the children talked about who goes in a Sukkah (family, friends). We had music with Ms. Emily in which we sang about Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur (saying sorry to our family and friends). We also had Laura Gehl who is the author of several Jewish children's books and a Temple Shalom member come in and read to us Koala Challah which they were very engaged by the idea of a Koala trying to make the perfect challah.

This coming Sunday we will not have regular class. Instead, we will be doing Sukkah building. The Parker family (Ginny's family) has graciously agreed to host us all again this year (this time along with Kid's Time!). We will start at 9:30 AM. We will have Sukkah activities for the children as well as a potluck breakfast/brunch. Please sign up for the potluck here

Their address is 6 Orange Ct, Greenbelt MD 20770. There are a few spots to park along their street but there should be plenty of street parking in their neighborhood. From Bethesda/Silver Spring, take 495 E to exit 23, 201 Kenilworth Ave. Turn Left onto Kenilworth Ave, and then Right onto Crescent road, Left onto Greenhill Rd (There is a church at the corner just before you turn), and then a Left at the first stop sign onto Orange Ct.

Attached is also an updated snack schedule as we have two new families in our class.

Any questions please feel free to ask!

Have a great week!
