Temple Shalom Kindergarten Scoop Week of 10/15

Shalom everyone,

I hope that you've been enjoying the cooler weather. Here are some highlights from this past Sunday's class:

  • During morning meeting everyone came up with a class rule; we will vote on the rules and sign a class brit (covenant) this coming Sunday.
  • Music in the sanctuary with Ms. Emily
  • Creation Activity: We explored six different centers and guessed what God created on that day. We got to make shadow puppets with flashlights for the creation of light (day); use slimy paint to make the sun, moon, and stars; feel dirt and combine it with water; used magnifying glasses to look at plants; play with a shark and parrot puppet; engage with toy animals; and look at our reflections in the mirror.
  • We read two stories about creation, and then added the numbers 1-7 onto our cape with pictures of what was created each day inside of each number and also glued our Hebrew names we painted from last week.

Hopefully we will have a parent/child activity on 11/12 during the morning class time, and then time for us to just meet (while the children are in music/dance) to answer questions and talk about the upcoming year. I will keep you informed of the date/timing!

Also, I am in the midst of calling everyone to say hello and see if you have any questions, or want to talk about how to best work with your child this year. If we haven't talked yet and there is a specific time that works best for you, please let me know.
