Dear Families of 6th-12th Graders,
Just as a reminder, all students (and parents/guardians) will be having programming this Sunday morning, not evening.
The entire community will be participating in Tikkun Olam Day on November 5 from 9:30 am- noon. Although the day serves as religious school for the day we do ask that you RSVP so that we have a solid count on numbers and have enough bagels for everyone. Please RSVP here: https://tikkkunolamday2017.eventbrite.com
The day will bring together the congregation to explore what it means to be a Jewish advocate in challenging times. We will begin the morning with bagels at 9:30 am and then adults and teens will have an opportunity to hear from Congressman Jamie Raskin. Adults will then have an opportunity to choose from a number of sessions including caring for ourselves during challenging times, caring for youth during challenging times, and an update on what the Tikkun Olam Committee is doing.
Teens will have an opportunity to do a program with Avi Edelman on unconscious biases, programming with Operation Understanding DC (a group of Black and Jewish teens who do a year-long exploration of one another’s histories and experiences), an Op-Ed writing workshop with Todd Frankel, and more.
There is also a full morning of programming for all of our youth (this is school for them in the morning as well) and babysitting for infants and toddlers.
Looking forward to seeing you all!
