3rd Grade Note- Temple Shalom-10/15/17

Hello Families,

This past weekend we had another fun week at Sunday School.

We learned about the importance of the 10 Commandments in Judaism! We talked about the 10 Commandments we follow today and how Moses came down from Mt. Sinai with the 10 Commandments to find the people had built a golden calf to worship. The students created out of clay their interpretation of the golden calf out of clay. We then discussed about how Moses had the people destroy the golden calf, the students had to smash their clay "golden calf's", before returning again to the people with another set of 10 Commandments from G-d that reflect punishments against the Jewish people for building and worshiping the golden calf. Then we discussed why the Jewish people follow the 1st set of Commandments rather than the second set of 10 commandments.

Then we heard the story of Noah's Ark  and made popsicle stick foam animals. With their animals the students marched two by two through the hallway as the animals did when the got on the Ark.

One housekeeping note: 3rd Grade Students are released from their Chugim or electives at the end of class. Please make arrangements to meet your student at the lower temple lobby or their chug classroom or meeting area.

As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

B'Shalom.
