3rd Grade Note- October 29th

Hello 3rd Grade Families,

Thank you all for making yesterday's Family Education Day at the Ratner Museum such a success. The students had a fun time with the scavenger hunt and were great actors expressing the emotions that Rachel and Leah felt.

Next weekend we are asking that in leu of Sunday school that students and families attend, Tikkun Olam Day on November 5th,2017!

Tukkin Olam Day is a  family day that will  be from  9:30 am-noon. The day is focused on how to be a Jewish advocate in troubling times. Adults and students 8th grade and older will have an opportunity to hear from Congressman Jamie Raskin as well as an opportunity to learn about synagogue social justice efforts, a program with Karen Miller on caring for children in challenging times, and a program with May Benatar on caring for ourselves in challenging times. The the rest of our youth will be doing programs with District Community Playback on breaking down barriers, a program with Avi Edelman on unconscious biases, learning to write an effective Op-Ed with  Todd Frankel, a program with Operation Understanding DC, a program with Xani Pollakoff on The Name Jar, and music to heal the world with Cantor Lisa. There will be specific programs for all grades pre-k-12th grade and babysitting will be available for our youngest kids.Please feel free to invite friends and family to join us.
